David & Zoe - A Pop Culture Themed Wedding
Recently I had the opportunity to work with Zoe and David to create some on-the-day stationery items for their wedding.
Zoe and David were looking for place cards, along with a table plan and table signs. They had chosen some of their favourite books and movies as their table names and were looking to incorporate this into their wedding theme.
Table Cards
David and Zoe sent over some reference imagery for their table sign illustrations. For their top table, they went with The Emerald Sea (a recent Brandon Sanderson novel) which fit thematically with their colour scheme. I was particularly proud of the accompanying illustration - the image of a ship - signalling the start of a new adventure. This seemed like an appropriate omen for their wedding day.
The Table Plan
For the table plan, we went with an A1 acrylic sheet. The clear surface can sometimes make it hard to read the lettering so David and Zoe asked for a dark green backing on the acrylic to match their green and ivory colour scheme.
It can be tricky choosing the right size of table plan. Had the number of tables been slightly different it may have fit on an A2 sheet. David and Zoe were kind enough to let me choose the size I thought would work best. Though A1 is very large for a table plan it gave me room to space out the lettering and allowed for a large banner at the top of the sheet.
Place Cards
The place cards were very simple in comparison. Zoe and David went for the classic flat place cards in a matching pine green colour. These table cards were written in my relaxed copperplate style which matched their other decorative elements.
It was a pleasure getting to work on these on-the-day items. David and Zoe were thrilled with how everything turned out. It was so much fun getting to see how they incorporated their favourite things into their special day. I wish them both all the best in their new adventure together!
